White Wires

"WWII"

(Dirtnap)

How did 3 Canadians from the land-locked city of Ottawa, record the best beach record ever?!?!  Opener, "Let's Go To The Beach," would have kids from 50s surf films dancing in their Woody (the car, you perv).  From beginning to end, THE WHITE WIRES WWII is a sun-soaked Garage-Pop gem that will satisfy anyone's sweet tooth.

Ian (vox/guitar: owner of Going Gaga Records), Luke (bass/vox: ex-Million Dollar Marxist, and Rock N Roll Pizza proprietor), and Allie (drums:  the multi-instrumentalist sole member of Peach Kelli Pop and the face behind many of Ottawa's best basement shows) joined forces over pizza and pop three short years ago.  Since then, the band put out a handful of 7"s and a charming S/T LP that landed them in the forefront of Ottawa's exploding pop scene.  THE WHITE WIRES debut LP was originally released on Going Gaga and sold out in no time flat, before Atlanta's Douchemaster Records re-released it for those of us who weren't lucky enough to scoop up one of the initial copies.  The band supported the release with tours across Europe and North America, including gigs at Gonerfest and the Atlanta Messaround, as well as a stop at SXSW that Brooklyn Vegan called "the single best SXSW 2010 performance by a band I hadn't seen before."

For WWII, THE WHITE WIRES re-entered the soon-to-be-legendary Meatlocker Studio and worked with producer, Yogi, to birth 12 nuggets of sing-along Power Pop.  Not since the Pointed Sticks perfected youth for young Canadians has a group of syrup chuggers from the Great White North churned out such pogo-worthy new wave tunage.  Of course, its only fitting that such a record would be set to wax by Portland's Dirtnap Records (Exploding Hearts, Marked Men, Epoxies, the Spits, Goodnight Loving).  THE WHITE WIRES WWII will have you polishing your futuristic sunglasses and heading to a bizarro sock hop where they only listen to Rezillos, the Nerves, the Undertones and the Boys.
