SUICIDE SQUEEZE RECORDS was started in August of 1996 with the release of a 7" single from rock outfit, 764-HERO. Since that release, the label has been aiming all their arrows at top caliber records with a punk rock soul. Suicide Squeeze is widely considered to be one of the most successful, long-term indie operations going today. As early releases by the Aislers Set, Elliott Smith, Red Stars Theory, and the Six Parts Seven helped give credence to the cause, Suicide Squeeze quickly grew from owner David Dickenson's fulltime hobby to a cottage industry by the late-90's. Now nearing a decade, the label has a full-time staff and a burgeoning roster of young talent, Baltimore teeny-poppers Metal Hearts and Chicago's Chin Up Chin Up, have only just recently joined the team to rave reviews.

When all is said and done it is their steadfast diversity that truly helped the label rise above the typical genreism that plagues much of the punk world, Suicide Squeeze's stable offers a true cross-section of what makes independent music so exciting, vibrant and crucial; the spazz-damaged skronk of Hella rubs up with the anthemic-pop of Minus the Bear as easily as Headphones pulsing synths butt up against the smoldering hooks of Crystal Skulls. All these divergent styles, yet nothing seems to be drowned out by pure volume or glam.

Suicide Squeeze at once can seem completely disparate and equally balanced, all of which must come down to Dickenson's unmatched vision, dedication and drive to see his lofty ideals through to the end.
